Wealth Tax to be Scrapped in Andalucia

The President of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, announced on Monday that Wealth Tax will be scrapped in Andalucia from the 21st of September. This will apply to both Spanish nationals and to those who have a secondary residence there. The region follows Madrid as the second region to subsidize this tax.

This is being done in an attempt to attract high-level tax payers to the area and to encourage them to remain in Andalucia permanently in order to bring an increased level of investment into the area. This follows 20 of the top wealth tax payers leaving the region in 2022, taking with them 18 million euros worth of tax.

This is predicted to attract 7000 new residents to the area, the economic benefits of which will exceed by far  the 0.6% of regional income provided by wealth tax in previous years.

The region is also set to reduce personal income tax by 4.3% and abolish the water tax.

Brexit – In or Out

Since returning and announcing the referendum on 23rd June, people he once considered good friends, allies and colleagues who he could count on for support have decided to join the out camp and now this is gaining momentum.

Term Life Insurance, a Priority for the Expat in Germany

Life insurance formLiving in Germany brings a few challenges for the expat. Not only do you have to negotiate the language and the culture you also have to get to grips with the German insurance system, which to anyone whose experience of insurance has largely been confined to the UK can seem incredibly complicated.

Yet, once you overcome your unfamiliarity, and get your head around the innumerable syllables of all the various “komposita” involved, you may be able to take advantage of the system so that it works in your best interests. Finding an expat wealth management specialist who has familiarity with the system and the products on offer is likely to be part of the solution to finding the cover that is best suited to your needs.

For example, finding risikolebensversicherung (term life insurance) is about securing cover for all of life’s eventualities so that your family and other dependents are properly looked after in the event you die before they do.
